Newsflash Mindy: Most People Look out for Themselves

This title is something that I am noticing a lot lately. We all need to look out for ourselves of course. Nevertheless, we can still consider other people and not think solely of ourselves in most situations. In the spirit of becoming more assertive, I've been reflecting on how often I go out of my way for other people and how often they go out of their way for me. Some of the results (more than I expected) are saddening. I see that I go to other people, rather than make them come to me. I generally keep to the plans I've made with other people, sometimes to my own detriment, as well. Most people, however, seem to expect me to go to them and cancel whenever something is the least bit inconvenient. It's frustrating. The exception to this observation is my grandmother and aunt. They often think about me and take my needs into consideration. I hope that I reciprocate that; I do try. ) Also, I have about 3 friends who are pretty solid. Perhaps that's as good as it gets a...

Dig it up and Dust it off

Pow! Just like that, I'm back. I've started a side project called The Montreal Five and I've also got my students blogging. In so doing, I found this old blog. What a blast from the past. A good blast. It got me thinking about how much I used to write and how little I write nowadays. That's going to change. During the past few days, I've had some ideas of things I would like to write about popping into my head. That's a good sign. Be prepared, my one or two followers, there will be some posts to come. :)
